Budafok is the citadel of the Hungarian wine commerce, with the honourable title of „Town of Champagnes and Wine”. The Budafok Borskanzen operates here, in the area of the ancient Promontor, which introduces Hungary’s deservedly world-famous viticulture by regions, and presents its tools, traditions and products.
During our walk in the cellar branches carved into limestone, exhibited material remains and illustrated descriptions show the development of viticulture and the life of winemakers from the middle ages to present day, with loyalty to history. Besides the exhibition in the museum, in the currently operating branches of Záborszky Cellar with the help of our cellar man our customers may get to know the trade of winemaking. In the cellar despite the appearance of modern technologies the traditional wine- and champagne making noble traditions are still used and preserved, and besides the reductive winemaking style, barrel-stand ripening method is still applied combining tradition and quality.
Within the underground cellar town with a length of
6 kilometres
, those who are interested in viticulture can visit one of the 13 Budafok Wine- and Champagne Cellarages, and also the world’s largest fillable wooden barrel with its cubic capacity of
102.230 litres
.
After all these in the Záborszky Cellar’s theatre hall we are awaiting our customers with regular music-and dance shows, in our restaurant every evening with gala performances compiled from international opera and world-famous Hungarian operettas.
